Gears of Glory Game Demo Review
Verdict: Play
Gears of Glory is a clever mix of driving and tower defense that earns a play.
Gears of Glory asks you to drive, collect, build, and plan before each wave hits. The mechanic of previewing robot routes adds a thinking layer on top of the driving chaos. The demo is five levels and leaves enough to work with to justify the verdict of play.
Pros
- Smart pre-wave planning layer
- Variety in robot enemy types
- Leaderboard adds replay incentive
- Core loop is simple and works
Cons
- Slow turret placement feels wasted
- Turret synergies underdeveloped in demo
- Washed-out colour palette can confuse
- Car ramming ends runs quickly
