Animaly Bar is a horror bar management sim from 18-year-old solo developer Domnaier. Animals won the war against humans. You play as a gorilla running a bar. Midway through your shift, a penguin arrives and tells you to shoot any humans who come in disguised as animals. The bar work is deliberately mundane. Being terrible at remembering orders does not help.
Animaly Bar mixes bar management, interrogation, and horror across three distinct paces. The mundane admin work slows things down just enough to make the tension feel real. Built by an 18-year-old solo developer, it is worth your time in demo form right now.

## First Impressions
I am terrible at remembering orders. Put me behind a bar and I would be back at the recipe book every thirty seconds. Animaly Bar decided that was not enough of a challenge and also made me an interrogator and an executioner on the same shift.
I was sold on it within the first ten minutes.
## Bar Work and Interrogation
Before opening: clean the floor, take the rubbish out, restock the drinks. Once open, customers come in one at a time, order from the menu, and you mix from the recipe book. I spent half the session running back to check what they had asked for because I had already forgotten.
That is already slightly stressful. Then you are also supposed to be watching the same customer for signs they might be a human in a suit. The two jobs fight each other constantly, and that friction is completely deliberate.
The human-spotting clues have real thought behind them. Do they know the slogan? Are there costume tells, a zip, a tag, cotton poking out? And critically, would a real animal order what they just asked for? Humans would avoid anything containing human ingredients: human urine, human tears, human milk. Order something clean with nothing else adding up, and that is your signal. Get it wrong and the penguin calls. Too many mistakes and you fail. Too many humans slip through and the assassination risk goes up.
## The Horror
The demo covers two in-game days. On the second day, looters arrive, not bothering to blend in, just trying to rob the bar. Then the lights go out. The radio starts messing with itself. You find the fuse box. Lights come back and flash red.
That is when the jump scare happened. Not saying what it is, but it got me, and jump scares do not usually get me. I knew one was coming. I just did not know when.
The three modes of bar work, interrogation, and horror each demand different attention at different speeds. The bar work slows everything down. The interrogation asks you to pay close attention to small details. The horror uses that heightened attention against you. Being terrible at remembering orders turns out to be ideal preparation for a game that wants you constantly slightly on edge.
## Verdict
Download it. An 18-year-old solo developer built this, and the structural thinking behind the pacing is more considered than most games with actual teams behind them. Sixty minutes in and I wanted more.
Go in knowing the bar work is supposed to feel slow and slightly stressful. That is not a flaw. It is what makes everything else work.
