Ignitement Steam Demo Review

A fire-shaman horde survivor demo where Reddit-worthy flame and smoke simulation carries a twenty-minute survival loop w
I am burnt out on horde survivors. Then Sørb kept posting fire on Reddit for about a month, and I downloaded Ignitement just to see if the flames and smoke looked that good in game.
They do. I played about an hour and change solo, got within thirty seconds of surviving the full twenty minutes, and came away wanting another run. My verdict is Play.
Ignitement is a Play if you want a horde survivor where the fire simulation is the hook and the twenty-minute survival loop has enough mask variety and map toys to chase. I failed thirty seconds short after an hour-plus, and hitboxes plus the map edge need work before launch. Try the demo on Steam if the clips pulled you in the same way they pulled me in.

- Damage feedback stays readable when the screen is full of flames and enemies
- Two masks, Explosive Corpses, and map POIs give the demo real build and route variety
- Locked hub rooms tease meta progression you can see, not just read about

- Arrow hitboxes feel slightly misaligned in the demo build
- Jumper hitboxes have a similar problem under pressure
- Map edge is hard to read through smoke and shadows; I died stuck in a corner there
Fire worth booting up for
Ignitement casts you as a fire shaman in a meditative battle against inner demons. On the store that reads metaphysical. On the ground it is skeleton swarms in a smoky arena and you trying not to drown in them.
Sørb has been sharing clips on Reddit where fire spreads, smoke curls off it, and flame rings bloom and die. The store does not tag it bullet heaven, but that is the loop: kite hordes, pick up gems for XP, level up, stack more tools while a clock runs. I would not normally pick up another one right now. This demo is worth booting almost just to watch the simulation work, and it plays as well as it looks.
Masks, waves, and the build that carried me
Before each run you pick one of two masks. One gives you a flamethrower and a dash. The other gives you a throwable fireball and a shield. Kill skeletons, collect gems, level up, and choose upgrades like movement speed, health, comets from the sky, fire rings, regen, or Explosive Corpses. I always took Explosive Corpses. Dead enemies pop and clear space better than anything else I tried.
Health was trouble from the start. Mana only became a problem once I had more spells at higher levels. The wave ladder escalates fast: slow skeletons, archers, jumpers, ghost rushers that ignore terrain, reinforced reds, then pigmen with a vortex that blocks your flames. One run I cheesed a gap between two mountains with the flamethrower until the ghosts sprinted through and wrecked me.
Ignitement is a Bullet Hell in density and an Action game in the dodge-and-burn moment, with Roguelike run structure in the level picks and between-run gold upgrades. I always upgraded pickup range in the hub so gems pulled in from further away at level one. Locked rooms in the demo show more meta progression is coming, which beats a bullet point on the store page you never see.
Map toys, readable chaos, and demo friction
While you kite waves there are points of interest worth hunting. A greed demon drops XP and gold behind him. A coin flipper where tails costs you and heads pays out. A devil with scales offering burdens like no damage for thirty seconds in exchange for fifteen percent extra damage for the rest of the run. Cow carcasses flip like chests for pendants that bump damage, movement, or mana regen.
I like chaos when I can read it. Here you can tell if damage came from your fireball, a flame ring, fire left on your dash, an arrow, or a melee hit. The flamethrower sound is really good. As an Indie horde survivor it keeps pressure up without turning the screen into unreadable noise.
Arrow hitboxes feel slightly off right now. Jumpers have a similar problem. The map also has a hard edge that is tricky to see through smoke and shadows. My final death was getting stuck in a corner on that edge while the horde piled in. For some players the loop will feel repetitive. That is the genre. This build still made me want another attempt.
